The Premium Brahmaputra Riverine

Sail the mighty Brahmaputra in absolute luxury. A slow-paced expedition through heritage, wildlife, and riverine islands.

Trip Overview

Experience Assam from its very lifeline—the mighty Brahmaputra River. This highly exclusive, 5-day luxury cruise completely redefines the Assam safari. Abandoning the dusty highways, you will check into a premium riverboat, watching the untouched rural landscapes glide by from your private balcony. This itinerary blends upscale relaxation with daily excursions, including guided walks through ancient weaving villages, jeep safaris into Kaziranga from the riverbanks, and unforgettable moonlit barbecues on deserted river sandbanks.

Day 1 Embarkation & The Silk Village of Sualkuchi

Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU). A private transfer will take you directly to the Guwahati river port. Board your luxury river cruise ship and receive a traditional Assamese welcome. Settle into your premium cabin as the ship casts off upstream. After a sumptuous buffet lunch on deck, take a short tender boat excursion to Sualkuchi, known as the "Manchester of the East." Walk through the village to witness the intricate weaving of golden Muga silk. Return to the ship for a relaxed evening and dinner.

Day 2 Cruising the Mighty River & The Peacock Island

Wake up to a sprawling breakfast on the sun deck as the ship navigates the vast, braided channels of the Brahmaputra. Today is dedicated to slow travel and supreme relaxation. Enjoy onboard activities, spa sessions, or cultural talks by resident experts. In the afternoon, the ship drops anchor near Peacock Island, the smallest inhabited river island in the world. Visit the Umananda Temple and look out for the endangered Golden Langurs that inhabit the island. The evening features live local folk music and dinner onboard.

Day 3 The Ancient Ruins of Tezpur & Sandbank BBQ

The ship continues its upstream journey, arriving at the historic city of Tezpur by mid-day. Disembark for a guided excursion to the Cole Park (Chitralekha Udyan) and the mythological hillock of Agnigarh, offering panoramic views of the river you just sailed. Return to the ship in the late afternoon. As the sun sets, the crew will set up a spectacular, exclusive barbecue dinner on a deserted, pristine sandbank in the middle of the river, complete with a bonfire and stargazing.

Day 4 The Wild Shores: Kaziranga Safari & Silghat

The cruise arrives at the shores of Silghat, a gateway to the famed Kaziranga National Park. After an early breakfast, disembark and transfer directly to the park's ranges. Embark on a thrilling Jeep Safari through the dense elephant grass and woodlands to track the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, wild water buffalo, and diverse birdlife. After your safari, return to the ship for an afternoon of relaxation. Enjoy a lavish Captain's Farewell Dinner in the evening.

Day 5 Disembarkation & Departure

Enjoy one final breakfast on the river as the morning mist clears. Disembark the ship at Silghat or the designated port. Your private chauffeur will be waiting to transfer you either back to Guwahati Airport (GAU) or onward to Jorhat Airport (JRH), depending on your onward travel plans, concluding your magnificent riverine journey.

Voyage Guide

The Nautical Compass

Critical operational details to set the right expectations for your luxury river cruise experience.

Sailing Season

Cruises are heavily weather-dependent:

  • Monsoon Halt: Due to extreme flooding and unpredictable currents, the Brahmaputra luxury cruises do not operate between May and October. The absolute best time to sail is from November to April.

Packing for the River

Dress for comfort and changing breezes:

  • The Layers: Mornings on the sun deck can be extremely chilly, especially in December and January. Bring a good windbreaker. During the day, the sun reflects off the water, making it quite warm; high SPF sunscreen and sunglasses are mandatory.

The Pace of Travel

A journey, not a sprint:

  • Slow Travel: The Brahmaputra is a massive, shifting river. The ship travels at a relaxed pace to safely navigate the sandbanks. This trip is designed for clients who want to disconnect, read a book on the deck, and watch the world go by, rather than rushing from site to site.

Digital Disconnect

Expect spotty connectivity:

  • Onboard Wi-Fi: While luxury ships provide Wi-Fi, the connection relies on cellular towers on the mainland. As you sail through remote stretches, the internet will drop entirely. Inform family and colleagues that you will have limited connectivity.

Dining & Beverages

Gourmet experiences onboard:

  • Inclusions: All meals are included and usually feature a mix of Continental, North Indian, and authentic Assamese cuisine. While premium tiers may include complimentary sundowners, most alcoholic beverages are billed separately at the end of the cruise.

Tender Boat Excursions

Getting to the shore:

  • Mobility: Because the main ship cannot dock directly at shallow riverbanks, you will frequently transfer to smaller, motorized 'tender boats' to reach the shore for village walks and safaris. A basic level of mobility is required.
